Their signature sound featured a distinctive horn section, the keyboards of Marci (composer of many of the band’s melodies), and the colorful vocals of singer Marquet, who gave some songs an almost chanson-like atmosphere. The band concluded its run with a spectacular concert in 2012. Since they were a staple of the lineup in the early years of Mighty Sounds, we are thrilled that they will be performing a special tribute concert at the festival’s 20th anniversary edition!

The band formed in 1997 in Göttingen, Germany, but soon moved to Berlin, where they became an integral part of the local punk scene. They serve up fast and melodic skate punk with lyrics focused on political and social themes such as anti-fascism, anti-racism, and criticism of consumer society. ZSK will be celebrating with us!

Their concerts are short, loud, and frenzied—exactly how we think punk should sound in 2025.

The idea to form NYSJE by combining the best of ska, jazz, and reggae first took shape in 1993 in the mind of “Rocksteady Freddie” Reiter, then the saxophonist for The Toasters. During the hugely successful “Smash Skavoovee Tour,” he convinced his bandmates (trombonist Rick Faulkner and drummer Jonathan McCain) to join his project, as well as the guitarist and keyboardist from the legendary Skatalites, and brought in producer Vic Rice on double bass, who at the time was still involved with the ska-jazz “pseudo-Satanist” group Mephiskapheles. That, however, lasted only until frontman Bryan Torres began singing, at which point everything took a slightly different turn. Death Lens blends West Coast-style surf-punk with British indie rock and shoegaze. Lyrically, the band addresses racial and social issues, personal struggles, addiction, and social anxiety. Live, their music is raw and energetic—they’re nice, laid-back guys offstage, but on stage they tear it up like a bulldozer!

Antigen

Hardcore/Metalcore/Grindcore
23:50 - 00:30

A solid dose of authentic, no-nonsense crust punk, making its debut on Mighty Sounds. The band was founded by bassist and singer Steffi in Göttingen, Germany. Originally a punk band, they underwent a major transformation, incorporating more crust and hardcore elements into their sound. A lineup change also played a role, as Steffi moved to the Czech Republic and guitarist Roman (Fear of Extinction, Jonestown) and drummer Sváťa (Dread 101, Exekuce) joined the Prague-based lineup. The band gained a brand-new sound. The wheels could now really start turning.

This Prague-based alternative hip-hop duo, formed around two classmates—lyricist Jan Vejražka and musician Jiří Konvalinka—was founded in 2010. The Mutants’ style and the atmosphere of their work are completely unconventional, but in a very good way. They blend rap, electronic music, and experimental sounds, often with irony, satire, and expressive lyrics. Their latest release is a five-track EP titled Rada starších, which features a lineup of seasoned guest artists.

Swing Band Tábor

Ostatní
13:00 - 13:55

The traditional lineup of swing classics to kick off the day will be back again this year. Come swing along to the rhythms, which will nicely complement the diverse range of genre-specific bands and provide a welcome respite from the festival’s ubiquitous guitars and punk beats.

Queens of Everything
14:35 - 15:25
Rock'n'Roll/Folk/Country
14:35 - 15:25

Queens of Everything is a band that, of course, no Mighty Sounds festival birthday bash could do without. This punk 'n' roll whirlwind is as inseparable from Mighty Sounds as festival mornings are from hangovers. In the case of Queens of Everything, however, this bond—unlike a hangover—is usually a very pleasant one. The Queens deliver a solid mix of guitars and a sharp horn section, and Krleš’s raspy voice sits atop the imaginary cake like a candied cherry. In short, the summer birthday bash just wouldn’t be the same without the Queens. You’ve got them!

Totální Nasazení
16:10 - 17:10
Punk
16:10 - 17:10

This Czech punk rock band from Slaný was formed in 1990. They made their breakthrough thanks to catchy melodies and ironic, often humorous lyrics, and very quickly became a fixture of the domestic punk scene. Their live shows are energetic and spontaneous, delivered with a healthy dose of self-deprecating humor. To this day, they maintain a loyal following and are considered icons of Czech punk. Simply put, Totáči are a must-see at the 20th anniversary edition.

Paddy and The Rats
18:00 - 19:00
Rock'n'Roll/Folk/Country
18:00 - 19:00

Given the considerable popularity of Irish and Celtic folk music here, the Hungarian band Paddy And The Rats has really made a name for itself in the Czech Republic. Over the few years they’ve been visiting the Czech Republic, interest in them has been growing, thanks mainly to their legendary live performances, which transport you through the atmosphere of more than one Dublin pub, thick with the scent of Irish whiskey. The 20th edition simply couldn’t go on without them.

Burning Spear
19:50 - 20:50
Ska/Reggae
19:50 - 20:50

For the 20th anniversary of the Mighty Sounds Festival, we’ll be welcoming one of the greatest icons of roots reggae—none other than Burning Spear, whose real name is Winston Rodney. This Jamaican native made his breakthrough in the 1970s with a series of singles recorded under the guidance of producer Coxsone Dodd at the legendary Studio One. But his true breakthrough came with the album *Marcus Garvey* (1975), which established him as one of the most distinctive voices of Rastafarian reggae. Burning Spear is not just a musician—he is a living chronicler of reggae who has transformed music into a message of identity, pride, and resistance. Over the course of his career, he has won two Grammy Awards and is considered one of the most authentic bearers of the original reggae sound. Don’t miss the voice of reggae’s roots and the living connection between the music, history, and spirituality of Jamaica in just a few weeks in Tábor!

Skindred
21:40 - 22:40
Hardcore/Metalcore/Grindcore
21:40 - 22:40

Skindred formed in 1998 in Newport, Wales, and from the start they embraced a wild mix of reggae, metal, and punk. Benji Webbe, a former member of Dub War, leads the band as an unstoppable showman who can scream and sing with absolute ease, and whose voice you’ll recognize instantly. The band quickly earned a reputation as a live force to be reckoned with, and their “Newport Helicopter” became legendary. Skindred sound hard, danceable, and playful all at once, and every new album pushes their genre hybrid a step further. They’re a band that breaks down labels and has their own instantly recognizable style. Their show in Tábor will undoubtedly be one of the best!

Talco
23:30 - 00:30
Ska/Reggae
23:30 - 00:30

Venice isn’t just a city full of tourists and canals filled with gondolas. It’s also the hometown of this Italian ska-punk powerhouse. Talco blends heavy guitar riffs with powerful brass anthems, all complemented by sharply critical lyrics. As festival-goers already know, their energetic mix of punk, ska, and folk melodies gets everyone moving, which is why Talco is a must-see at the festival’s 20th anniversary edition.

All Mad Here is returning to the scene of the action after several years—and they’re kicking things off with a birthday celebration. The group has undergone some minor changes, and it seems like that’s given them a real boost; they’re more active than ever. If you enjoy a traditional take on Jamaican music, then this is the obvious choice for you.

Cheers!
13:50 - 14:35
Rock'n'Roll/Folk/Country
13:50 - 14:35

Who hasn’t heard of the Pilsen-based Celtic punk band The Cheers! After all these years, they’re returning to Mighty Sounds to celebrate the festival’s 20th anniversary with us. These bards, soaked in pints of Irish beer, already have a pretty solid fan base here, and we can’t wait to hear their music fill the Aeroklub Tábor.

Gutalax
15:25 - 16:10
Hardcore/Metalcore/Grindcore
15:25 - 16:10

South Bohemia’s leading goregrind band is famous for its concerts in white protective gear, during which toilet paper flies through the air, portable toilets are crowd-surfed over people’s heads, and every mosh pit turns into one big “fecal” party. Gutalax is well known to Mighty Sounds attendees, and they definitely can’t be missed at the 20th anniversary edition.

The Casualties
17:10 - 18:00
Punk
17:10 - 18:00

The Casualties need no introduction. This New York street-punk band performs in the Czech Republic fairly regularly (they’ve played at Mighty Sounds at least twice) and is definitely one of our favorite acts. They started playing back in 1990 and have recorded eleven albums. Since 2018, the band has had a new singer, David Rodriguez, who has fit in perfectly. We’re looking forward to a wild ride.

The Flatliners
19:00 - 19:50
Punk, Hip Hop
19:00 - 19:50

The Canadian punk rock band The Flatliners hails from Toronto and was formed in 2002. The band originally began their career with energetic ska-punk, which they gradually transformed into a rougher, melodic punk with a touch of rock ’n’ roll. Albums like *The Great Awake* and *Dead Language* cemented The Flatliners’ position among the most prominent names in contemporary punk, known for their energy and unwavering DIY approach.

Ostatní
20:50 - 21:40

Wargasm is a London-based electro-punk/nu-metal duo consisting of Milkie Way and Sam Matlock. The band formed in 2019 and immediately caught people’s attention with their raw energy and unprecedented genre-blending chaos. Wargasm’s sound is a slightly bizarre mix of punk, metal, electronic, and hip-hop. They debuted with the single “Post Modern Rhapsody.” Live, they are known primarily for their explosive energy and provocative stage show. In 2022, the band won the “Best New Noise” award at the Kerrang! Awards.

The Menzingers
22:35 - 23:30
Punk
22:35 - 23:30

The American punk rock band from Pennsylvania will perform at Mighty Sounds after a long hiatus. Since 2006, The Menzingers’ music has combined the raw energy of punk with catchy melodies and emotional lyrics. The band’s breakthrough came with the 2012 album *On the Impossible Past*, which earned critical acclaim and helped The Menzingers build a loyal fan base. Their lyrics often reflect on adolescence, nostalgia, and the daily struggles of life, and their sound is characterized by the contrast between the two voices of their singers—Greg Barnett and Tom May. Live, they are renowned for their intense, sincere, and electrifying energy. They are among the most respected bands on the modern punk scene, with each new album showing a shift from classic punk toward broader rock influences. Their fans love their signature anthemic choruses, which in no way detract from their authenticity. The Menzingers are a symbol that punk can age gracefully without losing its energy.

They are also the band that has performed at Mighty Sounds the most times (apart from Mighty regulars Fast Food Orchestra). Koule will celebrate their 20th anniversary alongside the festival, and to mark the occasion, former member and our colleague Vítek will be joining them for the first time in several years. A special occasion calls for a special lineup!

Come find out why!

Skinny Lister
19:10 - 20:00
Rock'n'Roll/Folk/Country
19:10 - 20:00

It’s been quite a few years since this British folk-punk band last performed at Mighty Sounds. Back in 2018, we already considered Skinny Lister the festival’s dark horses, since their genre pretty much checks all the boxes for the festival’s musical appeal. Live, this band is like a party bus with no brakes. From the very first note, you’ll start dancing, and their music will still be thumping in your tent hours after the show, like a Celtic soundtrack to your beer. This year, Skinny Lister released the fantastic album Songs From The Yonder, so we’re looking forward to seeing how many hits from it they’ll play at this anniversary edition.

Tim Vantol & Band
20:40 - 21:30
Rock'n'Roll/Folk/Country
20:40 - 21:30

This Dutch singer-songwriter has been through all sorts of bands and projects, from punk rock to hardcore, until he eventually—like his peers Frank Turner and Chuck Ragan—found his niche in telling stories of his life and other ballads with just an acoustic guitar. However, after many years, this likable guy is returning to Mighty Sounds with a full band, so the show will be a bit different from what his fans are used to. At the same time, Tim will also be performing on the Black Coffee stage, so fans won’t miss out on his traditional acoustic set.

Lion's Law
22:10 - 23:00
Punk
22:10 - 23:00

This French Oi! streetpunk band from Paris, formed in 2012, is no stranger to Mighty Sounds attendees. Frontman Wattie put the band together with the goal of reviving the strong French Oi! tradition. Lion’s Law debuted in 2013 with the album *A Day Will Come*, which quickly earned them respect on the international scene. The lyrics revolve around street life, unity, and resistance, and the music is full of catchy energy and a hard-hitting sound. Today, they are among the most famous European Oi! bands and regularly tour around the world.
